Scarcity of an adequate parking lot is arising as a new concern in Lajpat Nagar. Unavailability of an ample parking space in the Locality of New Delhi is a concern for daily commuters and travellers.

This tends to create heavy jams in highly occupied streets of several colonies of Lajpat Nagar. Unavailability of an adequate parking space, mostly troubles the commuters in rush hours. Primarily, 7 AM-9 AM is the most affected hours as people leave for work, schools and colleges between this time.

It primarily happens in dominant and largely populated areas of Lajpat Nagar. Places like Amar Colony market, Central Market, Lajpat Nagar and Moolchand metro stations, are mostly affected areas.

Local commuters say that jam piles up everyday as people park their vehicles anywhere, without realising that it may upset other travellers also, absence of an ample parking space is the root to all problems, travellers say.

Some travellers also accuse people buying excess vehicles, adds more trouble to this mess. Some commuters also say that it should be mandatory for every locality to have their own parking lot and parking on streets should be banned.

The absence of any multi-level or underground parking lots in South Delhi intensifies the parking problems says an A.I.I.M.S doctor, residing in National Park locality in Lajpat Nagar. However, the authorities responsible for checking the parking system have done nothing to alleviate the concerns of commuters.
